Driving for Freedom

Women in Saudi Arabia are denied many basic human rights, including being able to vote or even drive a car. Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world where woman are not allowed to drive, but there are signs of support to change the law from both men and women in the country.  Amnesty International Youth Groups all over the UK are organising a big photo action to show women in Saudi Arabia that we support their campaign to overturn the driving ban.   Members of our Amnesty International group have started going around school with big cardboard steering wheels, with signs in Arabic saying ‘We support Saudi Arabian women to drive their way to freedom’.  We want to take lots of photos of pupils and staff holding the steering wheels to show their support, and we’ll then forward these photos to Amnesty and use them in a display at school.
